Privacy Policy

1. Overview
Pet Decoder (“the app”) is developed and operated by Verto Studios. This privacy policy explains what data we collect, why we collect it, and how you can control or delete it. Pet Decoder is an entertainment app — translations are creative interpretations and do not constitute veterinary advice. If you have questions, email vertosupport@agentmail.to.
2. Data We Collect
Account data (optional)
Name and email address if you create an account. Pet Decoder also offers a Guest mode with no account or sign-up required.
Pet profile
Pet name, species (cat or dog), breed, and approximate age that you enter during onboarding. This is used to personalise the translation output. It is stored locally on your device and, if signed in, on our servers.
Audio recordings
When you start a scan, the app records 5–15 seconds of audio. Recordings are uploaded to our backend and forwarded to Google's Gemini AI service for analysis. Audio recordings are not stored on our servers — they are processed and discarded once the translation is generated.
Translation history
The textual translations you generate are stored locally on your device so you can review them. They are not sent back to our servers unless you explicitly share them.
Purchase data
Subscription status and entitlement state managed by RevenueCat. We do not store or process payment card details — those are handled exclusively by Apple.
Device and usage data
Anonymised crash reports and performance metrics. No personally identifiable information is included in analytics events.
3. Microphone Access
Pet Decoder requires microphone access to record audio for translation. The microphone is only active during an active scan that you explicitly start. You can revoke microphone permission at any time in iPhone Settings → Pet Decoder. Without microphone access, the core feature of the app does not work.
4. How We Use Your Data
- To analyse audio recordings and produce a translation tailored to your pet's breed and age
- To personalise the translation output using your pet profile
- To manage your subscription entitlement via RevenueCat
- To improve app performance and fix bugs using anonymised crash data
- To respond to your support requests
We do not sell your data to third parties. We do not use your data for advertising.
5. Third-Party Services
Google Gemini AI
Processes audio recordings to produce the translation text. Audio is not retained by Google for training per the Gemini API terms.
Supabase
Stores account data on secure cloud servers. Only used if you create an account (not used in Guest mode).
RevenueCat
Manages subscription state and purchase verification. Does not receive audio or translation data.
Apple
Processes all in-app purchase payments. Apple's privacy policy applies to payment data.
6. Data Retention
Audio recordings are not retained on our servers — they are processed and discarded immediately after the translation is generated. Account and pet profile data are retained for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, all personal data is permanently removed within 30 days. Anonymised, aggregated analytics data may be retained indefinitely.
7. Your Rights
You have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your data at any time.
- Delete account: Open Pet Decoder → Profile tab → Delete Account
- Cancel subscription: iPhone Settings → your name → Subscriptions → Pet Decoder

8. Children's Privacy
Pet Decoder is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 13. If we become aware that a child under 13 has provided personal data, we will delete it promptly.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be notified in the app or via email. Continued use of Pet Decoder after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
